Fund of the Metropolitan for orphan guardianship
In order to solve this complicated social problem, Sheptytsky in 1918, founded the society "Metropolitan Sheptytsky’s Protection for Orphans in Lviv."
In 1918 the Metropolitan acquired the estate of Posich and Posich-Maidan in the Stanislavivsky district. The profits from these properties were supposed to support the foundation's activities.
On the eve of the Second World War, the society had 25 centres, 9 orphanages of different types, two seminaries, and one children's consultation for mothers.
The number of young people who received education through the foundation grew. At the end of 1938 and the beginning of 1939, there were already 115 such children and young people.
