Holodomor

On July 24, 1933, the world saw "A Sermon to the Episcopate of the Galician Church Province ‘Ukraine in the Death Convulsions,’" signed by three Greek Catholic Bishops and three Greek Catholic Assistant Bishops.
In this appeal, the Greek Catholic bishops openly accused Stalin's regime of the Holodomor, a Bolshevik system that caused and even organized the mass death of people from hunger: "... see the consequences of the gradual progress of the Bolsheviks ... The enemies of God and humanity rejected religion, the basis of the social system, deprived of liberty - the greatest good of human, free peasants were made slaves ... ".

This revelation of Sheptytsky and other Greek Catholic Bishops had a significant influence abroad and on the representatives of the ruling circles of the USSR.
