Banks and financial institutions
A. Sheptytsky became the honorary President of the Dniester Society for Mutual Assistance and Mutual Lending. The best example of the Metropolitan’s activity in the banking sector is the Land Hypothecary Bank in Lviv, which was actually founded by him in 1908-1909. Sheptytsky, on behalf of the metropolitanate, owned a controlling stake of that bank. Sheptytsky, as the shareholder of the bank, was a Member of the Supervisory Board of the Land Bank. An important objective of the Land Bank activity, according to Sheptytsky's views, should be lending to the Ukrainian peasantry.
