Ukrainian-Polish War

Metropolitan Sheptytsky was a member of the Ukrainian National Council, which, after the collapse of the Habsburg Empire in October 1918, voted for the establishment of Ukrainian statehood in the eastern part of Galicia.
On November 1, Ukrainian soldiers took Lviv, and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic (WUPR) was proclaimed. Ukrainian-Polish war began.
Sheptytsky tried to settle the consequences of hostilities for the civilian population of the city. The Metropolitan participated in negotiations of the armistice, prisoner exchange and provision of food for the city's population.
