From the Metropolitan’s speech at the opening of the Museum

The National Museum in Lviv was solemnly opened on December 13, 1913. At the opening of the National Museum, the Metropolitan said: "In the name of God, with the opening of the National Museum, we pass it on to our people, our young, present and future, so that it becomes the center of cultural and scholarly work."

The Metropolitan considered the preservation of memorials of "Things and Culture" as the primary task of the museum, and as for the community’s task, it was to see "in those sacred things recited by our ancestors the sacred things that must be preserved for future generations.
Then these are no more archaeological memorials, but the living basis of national culture for centuries to come. "
